Volunteers are the lifeblood of the Mount Juliet Animal Shelter Care & Control. We welcome volunteers of all ages, but those under 18 must volunteer with a family member. You can contact the volunteer coordinator at coordinator@mjshelter.com for more information.
To volunteer, you must complete a Volunteer Application. Applications can be sent in to coordinator@mjshelter.com Then, you will be sent to a mentor who is an experienced volunteer to show you the ins-and-outs of everything we do here. After that you will be certified to volunteer on your own.
Orientation is held on the last Sunday of each month at 4pm at the shelter. You need only bring your application (if you haven't already dropped it off) and your ID.
Those needing to fill community service hours may do so without attending volunteer training. They will not be allowed to come in contact with the animals and may volunteer without a parent present if they are under 18. It is recommended that those filling community service hours arrive at 8 a.m. and be prepared to sweep, mop, and do dishes.
